So, last night was majorly painful, neural misconnects all over... and it was also a highly eventful night for the Aurora Borealis. So I'm wondering if the high amount of electro-magnatic stuff in the air might have increased the electro-magnetic stuff in me.
Just a thought.
This blog is about FibroMyalgia, and the particularly strange ways it affects my life. Although it can be a royal pain (oh, no, puns already?), Fibro can also be pretty interesting. And yes, I feel strongly that a sense of humor is the best medicine, particularly in my case. So, come along for the ride, I'll post some of the more interesting neural miscommunications as they come up. If I don't post for a while, maybe I'm feeling normal -- whatever that is...

Interesting Morning...
I think this was a new one. Along with lots of tremors, I had the feeling that my lower legs were covered with ants. When asked if they were biting, I had to stop and think before responding "Nibbling, not biting."
It only lasted for about two hours...

March?
Yep... I didn't post in February. At all. Well, I tried. I started to numerous times. If only I could have come up with anything to write...
I have had lots of things, physically, but not ones that were fun or interesting to write about. Ugh, ugh, ouch, ouch, ooph, ooph, blah, blah. Great writing, huh? And so informative.
And I have nowhere to go with this. So, anyone who wants to write something more interesting, please send it to me and I'll cut and paste it.

Okay, a Little Interesting...
Now I just have to figure out the words to describe it. I think I can, I think I can:
Those things that are like pot-belly stoves in old trains? Well, I had one inside my right thigh yesterday. And it was stoked like crazy. It was about eight inches by five inches of raging inferno.
I kept having to remind myself that there was not actually any concern about my jeans melting into my skin...
I guess it was not that hard to describe after all -- I think. Did it make sense?

Another One of Those Days...
Horrible night last night, barely slept. Then came the fun of attempting to get up. To say the least, it was a good thing school doesn't start up again until Monday.
How many bones can a guy break in his sleep? Let's play the counting game! Three bones in the left ankle, both calves (one bone in each that I know of), right hip, right pelvis, two lower vertebrae, two in the upper middle of the back, six ribs (at least two with multiple breaks), left shoulder socket, left upper arm, right wrist, eleven different hand bones, the back of the skull (might have been two different breaks), both cheek bones, and the left jaw socket.
I say 38 for the win!
So, what did I do? Nothing to start with. I knew I needed to get myself motivated to get out of bed and then out of the house. But the first hour and a half were just spent attempting the first part, extracting myself from the bed. I texted my best friend, hoping I could get him to call me in the late afternoon to see if I'd made the second part yet. He instead talked me into meeting him at his office so we could go to lunch. And I did! Best thing I could have done. He was patient with my slow walking to a nearby pub.
By the end of lunch, I was down to about a dozen broken bones. That was easy to deal with after my morning.
So then I got home, and within 15 minutes another friend had called asking me to meet him for coffee. So I got out a second time! Second best thing I could have done.
By the end of coffee, only about five breaks left.
So maybe I should go out one more time... hehehe

Another Year...
It's been an interesting one, for sure. I discovered that the change in my commute since buying my house last December made a huge difference in how much the driving messed with my body. And then come May, I got displaced. Summer was great, but then the new school -- with no commute at all -- started out with so much stress that my health took a major downturn. I've been learning to deal with the new school better, but it's continuing to be a challenge.
So next year, I guess it's time to explore some of the alternative options that are out there. I have tried some in the past, but had been coasting along pretty well with my 'minimal risk' path -- getting exercise, eating well, trying to keep a positive mental attitude, keeping my sense of humor. Spoiling myself a bit helps too. But the new job and stress levels have me needing more healing than my home-made holistic approach can handle. So, keep watching this page for updates -- Wheeee!!!!

Typical Day in the Fibrohood...
So, I got a canned juice out of the refrigerator, and then stared at it. I still knew that there was juice inside. I knew I wanted to drink the juice. I stared at the top of the can, and knew that I needed to do something with the metal tab thing that was sort of shaped like an 8. But I could not remember what it was that I was supposed to do with that tab thing in order to be able to drink that juice.
This is a perfect illustration of Fibro-Fog. The brain disconnects a memory that should be second nature. One of the more common ones involves me standing at a door holding a key and wondering how that funny little metal thing can help me get to the other side of where the door is. Not to mention the names of people I have known for years...
