Happy New Year?

Wow...

So, yesterday my thighs were sore just from all the walking, etc., of the day. Then I was sitting and my right leg started seizing/spasming like crazy. As it was shaking, it was also shattering more and more. By the end of the seizing, it was made up of thousands of shards, and I could not touch it without it being incredibly painful. I could not even let my other leg touch it. And this continued all night... I had to have a body pillow on either side of my right leg all night long.

Today? It's just back to sore. So weird...

No Fun, but Yes Funky

Okay, this is kind of new...

Today I am pulling muscles right and left. A good yawn and I pulled several in my back and neck. Picking up a pen, I pulled muscles in my hand. Seriously, my hand -- who does that? Standing up from a chair tore up my lower back like crazy. And a few minutes later, they are no longer pulled, for the most part.

That's all.

Not for the Squeamish...

You've been warned!

So, last night, there I was, minding my own business, sitting on the couch... when a grenade went off inside of me. From what I could tell, it was sitting about 2-3 inches below my ribcage on my left side. It mostly blew forward, leaving a pretty big gaping hole in front and something about the size of a fifty cent piece in back.

Yes, I immediately looked to see if it was real. No, it wasn't real. But of course every time I looked away it became real again. I tried leaving my hand on it, but to no avail; it was real a few moments after I'd look away, even with the hand there.

Do I win the title of your strangest friend yet?

New Medication?

Yeah... no. Didn't help with sleep, but did make me drowsy the next day...

Oh, well.

Trying a new medication this weekend. Will keep me posted.

Still No Laughing Matter...

Lots of pain, and lots of lasting pain, like multiple days of the same thing... maybe weeks. Looking forward to seeing what the doc has to say about that, since that's not supposed to be part of the deal. Is something else going on, adding to my fun? Stay tuned to find out.

Aaaarrrgghhhhhh

Pretty well sums it up. Lots of getting worse. I don't like that. Seeing the doc at the end of the month. Don't think there will be anything to do about any of it, but who knows...

Just venting this time, no humor, sorry...

Open House...

...at school tonight. I was enjoying it, but about three-quarters of the way through the event, I started breaking multiple bones in my left ankle and lower leg. As long as I was talking with kiddos and parents, I could ignore the breaking, but as soon as I was alone again, BAM! I've been home for a couple of hours, and still, multiple breaks. No fun...

Chain Reaction

So, back to the school schedule... which means my chronic fatigue syndrome is having a field day/week/month. Which, of course, messes with the neural misconnections of my life. Which in turn, of course, raises and spikes pain levels. Have any of you ever seen the domino scene in 'Robots'?

But I do have to say, I am enjoying the new school. Lots to do, lots to learn, lots to catch up on... but in a healthy environment. So hopefully that will translate to easier, more restful sleep. Which will lead to less neural misconnects. Which in turn will even out many of the flare-ups. In time...

Made it Through Summer...

...and am back to school. That should be a good thing this time around. We'll see how the body reacts to being back on a routine.

5-3/4 out of 6

That's where I am right now... on the pain scale. 6 is completely incapacitated and/or dead. 3-1/2 to 4 is pretty normal for me. 5 happens pretty frequently. 2 happens rarely.

I suppose to be fair I am closer to 5-5/8, except I don't deal in eighths. I can still function with a keyboard. I think I can proofread.  I can open the refrigerator, and stare at several things that I can't prepare or open, and a few I can. But walking is pure agony. Sitting, not much better. Standing still works for a few seconds. Reclining works for several minutes, but then my feet start throbbing and my back goes on revolt. Oh, and any variation of holding up my head is torturous, but putting it on/against anything accentuates the pain.

So, am I missing something obvious here? Is there something I could be doing that does not hurt? Bleh...

Aaarrrrgghhh....

Was having a pretty good day, physically. Even taught a ballet section for one of the medleys I choreographed for summer camp. And just in the last half hour, I started having major seizures, and they won't stop! Both legs and the right arm. Thirty minutes is a good chunk longer than they usually last. And unfortunately, they don't seem to burn up any fat cells...

Nothing Much...

Just the same. Very little sleep, lots of pain. Just felt like I should enter something in the blog so it doesn't feel ignored...

Good News/Bad News

The body continues to be whack. Sleep continues to be highly sporadic, although I have been getting longer naps during the day, when I can. I tried two days in a row of not allowing myself the daytime naps, hoping that I would in turn sleep more at night; no luck. I just didn't sleep at all for 46 out of 48 hours. I'm walking around with 15-30 broken bones at any given time. I'm also having lots of tremor/seizure things, muscle cramps, and headaches. And I caught a cold.

The good news that my title promised? I got an A in my sign language intensive. woo-hoo...

Made it Through the School Year!

And the body has reacted... by going haywire. I'm not so sure it would qualify as a celebration.

Generally I sleep 2.5 hours at a pop, and fairly often can tack two of those together, waking up for only a minute or so and then going back to sleep. Well, since last Friday when I finished up the term, I have gotten one of those. Not one back-to-back, mind you. One 2.5 hour sleep. I've also gotten two naps that went over the one hour mark by just a bit. Everything else has been in the 20 minute range.

I'm still functioning, to my knowledge. I've been taking an intensive beginning Sign Language class all this week, and hopefully have retained some of the info. The final is in about six hours. And I am once again wide awake. Well, I suppose I could get in more studying...

No Luck...

Well, last night was pretty good for Northern Lights, but nothing major in the way of neural misconnects. Some minor ones, for sure, but nothing notable. So I guess that theory is shot. But it was fun while it lasted!

Interesting Theory...

So, last night was majorly painful, neural misconnects all over... and it was also a highly eventful night for the Aurora Borealis. So I'm wondering if the high amount of electro-magnatic stuff in the air might have increased the electro-magnetic stuff in me.

Just a thought.

Interesting Morning...

I think this was a new one. Along with lots of tremors, I had the feeling that my lower legs were covered with ants. When asked if they were biting, I had to stop and think before responding "Nibbling, not biting."

It only lasted for about two hours...

March?

Yep... I didn't post in February. At all. Well, I tried. I started to numerous times. If only I could have come up with anything to write...

I have had lots of things, physically, but not ones that were fun or interesting to write about. Ugh, ugh, ouch, ouch, ooph, ooph, blah, blah. Great writing, huh? And so informative.

And I have nowhere to go with this. So, anyone who wants to write something more interesting, please send it to me and I'll cut and paste it.

Okay, a Little Interesting...

Now I just have to figure out the words to describe it. I think I can, I think I can:

Those things that are like pot-belly stoves in old trains? Well, I had one inside my right thigh yesterday. And it was stoked like crazy. It was about eight inches by five inches of raging inferno.

I kept having to remind myself that there was not actually any concern about my jeans melting into my skin...

I guess it was not that hard to describe after all -- I think. Did it make sense?

Another One of Those Days...

Horrible night last night, barely slept. Then came the fun of attempting to get up. To say the least, it was a good thing school doesn't start up again until Monday.

How many bones can a guy break in his sleep? Let's play the counting game! Three bones in the left ankle, both calves (one bone in each that I know of), right hip, right pelvis, two lower vertebrae, two in the upper middle of the back, six ribs (at least two with multiple breaks), left shoulder socket, left upper arm, right wrist, eleven different hand bones, the back of the skull (might have been two different breaks), both cheek bones, and the left jaw socket.

I say 38 for the win!

So, what did I do? Nothing to start with. I knew I needed to get myself motivated to get out of bed and then out of the house. But the first hour and a half were just spent attempting the first part, extracting myself from the bed. I texted my best friend, hoping I could get him to call me in the late afternoon to see if I'd made the second part yet. He instead talked me into meeting him at his office so we could go to lunch. And I did! Best thing I could have done. He was patient with my slow walking to a nearby pub.

By the end of lunch, I was down to about a dozen broken bones. That was easy to deal with after my morning.

So then I got home, and within 15 minutes another friend had called asking me to meet him for coffee. So I got out a second time! Second best thing I could have done.

By the end of coffee, only about five breaks left.

So maybe I should go out one more time... hehehe
